Toro Interprovincial

Naturally there was disappointment for the team ,officials, caddies & supporters but there was no doubt that our boys did us proud all week.

They were by far and away the best presented team and the way they conducted themselves on the course was exemplary, drawing very favourable comments from those in attendance and were a credit to team manager Aaron Walsh and coach Jay Carter.

James Hamilton was outstanding in winning 8 from 8 playing at number 3. Landyn Edwards only defeat was in the final where his putter simply went cold.

After a slow start Brad Kendall showed glimpses of the form that made him the 2010 New Zealand Amateur Champion especially in his wins over Mat Perry and Keelan Kilpatrick.

It was interesting that all week the media dubbed Division 1 as the "pool of death" yet both finalists came from Division 2. Proving once again a team of Champions does not necessarily mean a Champion Team.

Bay of Plenty Golf congratulate Southland on an outstanding win.
