Welcome to Bay of Plenty Golf Inc.

In 2006 the Men’s Association of Bay of Plenty Golf amalgamated with the Women’s Association of Bay of Plenty Thames Valley Golf to form the current organisation.

The original Men’s Association was first formed in 1948 at a meeting at Rotorua Golf Club which was attended by Rotorua, Opotiki, Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Whakatane, Springfield and Taupo and women’s golf came under the umbrella of Thames Valley and Bay of Plenty Ladies Golf in 1956.

Bay of Plenty Golf is the administrative body for golf clubs stretching from Turangi in the South and Katikati in the North and also the women members of Thames Valley Clubs.

There are 40 clubs affiliated to the district making up an over-all membership of approximately 11000 adult members.

Details of all member clubs can be found on our home page menu. As a tool for member clubs this website contains all information pertaining to Interclub and District events as well as information about representative fixtures.

There is also a dedicated link to Junior Golf which is updated by our Golf Development Manager.

Details of governance and management can also be found through links on the homepage.

Over the years the women’s representative team has enjoyed great success and their most recent and 17th Interprovincial win was achieved in 2007.

After waiting 50 years the men have set an incredible benchmark in winning 6 of the last 8 Interprovincial events (and being beaten semi finalists and beaten finalists on the other two occasions).

From 2002 until winning last year the team was captained by Springfield’s Mark Smith. Through these years the Bay had players such as Jae An, Josh Geary, Danny Lee, Jared Pender and Troy Ropiha who have all moved on to the professional ranks..

Now in a re-building phase a very young team defied all critics to haul off a “three peat” in 2009 at Manawatu Golf Club.

So the dynasty rolls on with Bay of Plenty continuing to achieve outstanding results.
